YWCA's Families Together program provides safe, affordable housing and intensive support services for homeless families with minor children.

For more than 12 years, the YWCA has served homeless unaccompanied women through its Women In Transition program. While that program has proven successful, the YWCA now serves homeless families on its campus. Inspired by Christ Episcopal Church and made possible by numerous donors and friends, we were able to build a ten unit housing complex on our Park Road campus and on April 15, 2008 the YWCA held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Families Together program.

Families Together program participants have access to a myriad of services including: case management; computer instruction; education and job training programs; career counseling; financial planning services and volunteer facilitated social activities. Each family can remain in the program for up to two years.

Program Outcomes (2008-2009)

  • 71% of our participants exited into permanent housing.
  • 100% remained permanently housed after six-months.
A Warm Welcome for Homeless Families

We know that many of you look for volunteer opportunities to share with your family and friends, co-workers and church groups. The YWCA Central Carolinas has made giving easy by registering at Target stores nationwide. Items purchased off of the YWCA Target gift list will be used to “furnish” the YWCA Families Together residences.

You can pull up the YWCA gift registry at kiosks located inside Target stores and also by visiting www.target.com -- simply click on the Target registry lists, then click on "Find a List" and enter first name: YWCA, last name: Central Carolinas. You can also click here
to go straight to our registry.  You may also visit our "greatest needs" button on our homepage for more ideas. As always your help is appreciated.
